Heroic Rescue Turns Injured Stray into a Cherished Family Dog
For weeks, a mother dog was struggling to survive on the streets of a small village in India until a caring resident noticed her unusual condition.
Despite her shabby appearance, the dog was friendly and kind, often approaching nearby people. However, something was clearly wrong. Her jaw was hanging at an odd angle, causing her visible pain.
Upon closer examination, it was discovered that the mother dog, now named Pinky, had a broken jaw. Living on the streets with her puppies, Pinky's situation caught the attention of passersby who couldn't ignore her suffering.
She was bleeding from the mouth and having difficulty breathing due to her injury. Recognizing the seriousness of her condition, compassionate individuals quickly took action to help her, bringing her to the RRSA India animal shelter.
Even as she battled pain, Pinky's gentle nature shone through. When the rescue team arrived, she greeted them warmly, wagging her tail and licking their hands as they checked on her injuries. It became clear to the rescuers that Pinky needed immediate medical attention to save her life.
Pinky was carefully placed into a carrier and taken to the RRSA India animal hospital. There, she received antibiotics for an infection and medication to ease her pain. Based on their examination, the veterinarians decided to wire her jaw shut to allow for proper healing.
For weeks, Pinky stayed under the watchful eyes of the animal hospital staff. X-rays revealed she had been hit by a car, leaving her with multiple fractures in her jaw and teeth. With a septic wound threatening her life, the vets determined that removing a significant portion of her lower jaw and teeth was necessary. After undergoing surgery, Pinky began her recovery in a foster home.
The road to recovery was challenging for Pinky. Initially, she had to be fed through a tube for nearly a month. However, thanks to the dedication and care from the shelter workers and her foster home, Pinky began to heal.
Her jaw gradually mended, allowing her to eat and drink normally once again, and her endearing nature won over her foster family. They chose to adopt her permanently, having experience with special-needs canines, and continued to provide her with the love and care she needed.
Pinky now thrives in her new home, where she enjoys a comfortable bed, ample food, and the affection she deserves. Her rescue story highlights the impact of kindness and compassion, reminding us that every animal deserves a second chance at life.
Pinky's story is just one example of the numerous rescues carried out by RRSA India. These efforts rely heavily on community support and donations, which provide the necessary resources for medical care, food, and shelter for animals in need. Without such generosity, many animals like Pinky would remain in peril on the streets.
