From Neglect to Nurture: Lola's Inspiring Journey of Rescue and Renewal

This changed when a kind-hearted individual alerted AMA Animal Rescue to her plight, setting the stage for a heartwarming rescue.

Once freed, Lola, despite her hardships, welcomed her rescuers with a friendly wag of her tail and a forgiving demeanor.

Michele Walsh, a volunteer with AMA, shared fond memories of this moment. "We affectionately called her 'wavy butt,'" she said, recalling Lola's affectionate nature.

"She was overjoyed to be surrounded by people, showering everyone with kisses." Lola's path to recovery required surgery to remove tumors and several months in foster care, during which she began to heal both physically and emotionally.

Charlène von Saher, a Manhattan resident with a kind heart, soon came into Lola's life. She saw beyond the visible scars, recognizing the loving spirit within.

Von Saher fondly described how quickly Lola made herself at home, finding comfort in cushions and even resting her head on a pillow. Her antics, like stacking dog beds and making cozy nests, injected joy into the household.

Lola's love for basking in the sun indicates the deprivation she once faced, yet her enduring spirit is a true reflection of resilience.

Through Lola, von Saher experienced profound lessons on patience and unconditional love. "She improves every day," remarked von Saher, underscoring the profound impact of adopting a pet.

"They say when you adopt a dog, you save two lives—you rescue one and create space for another."
