From Hot Car Nightmare to Snowy Adventures: Duchess the Husky Finds Her Forever Home

Every year, numerous incidents surface about dogs being left inside hot cars, a dangerous situation that can lead to heat stroke and even death. Unfortunately, many pet owners continue to make this risky mistake, putting their furry friends at great risk.

One shocking incident from last summer involved a husky pup found in a parked car outside a Las Vegas casino. Adding to the horror, the dog's mouth was taped shut, and the desert temperatures soared to a blistering 113 degrees.

On July 20, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were called to the Bellagio casino parking lot, where a 3-month-old husky was trapped in a locked SUV. The situation was perilous since the dog had been left without air conditioning, food, or water while its owner, 50-year-old Raul Carbajal, gambled inside. Thanks to the quick actions of the police officers, they were able to rescue the severely distressed dog by pulling her out through the sunroof.

The story could have ended tragically for the husky, but thankfully, her situation took a sharp turn for the better. Shortly after the incident, which led to Carbajal's arrest for animal cruelty, the dog, now called Duchess, found a loving new home through The Animal Foundation, a Las Vegas-based animal charity.

In an uplifting update, The Animal Foundation shared that Duchess is thriving in her new life. "She lives with a wonderful family who adores her," the organization announced. Duchess enjoys comforting the children by sneaking into their beds and playing with her new companion animals.

In a complete turnaround from her past life of neglect, Duchess now travels with her family across states including Nevada, California, and Arizona. Remarkably, after enduring such heat distress, Duchess has developed a love for the cold and delights in playing in the snow.
