Every cat, and indeed every living being, is unique, but some are more extraordinary not because they are superior to others, but rather because they are a combination of multiple individuals. This may sound puzzling at first, but there is actually a rare genetic condition called "chimerism" which occurs when two or more zygotes merge during conception, resulting in an individual made up of two individual forming cells. This phenomenon takes its name from the Greek mythological creature Chimera, a beast that was part-lion, part-goat, and part-dragon. While actual chimerism isn't quite as fantastical as in the myths, it is nonetheless a beautiful and wondrous sight to behold!
