When they have guests, her mother shows them her toy so that the newcomers can have a few moments of enjoyment as well.

"Before they go, she wants people to say something. And she puts it on the best bed she can find when she leaves," she said. And, despite her advanced age and some hearing loss, she would continue to kiss her toy banana until she died.

"We ask visitors to let her know that they saw her banana so she can relax. She's never thought of it as a toy. It's her prized possession and her life," the mother continued.

She's 20 years old on the outside, but on the inside she's still a puppy.
