The Maine Coon cat breed is more than just its size! These felines have a friendly and dog-like personality, along with a fluffy coat that has a silky undercoat, a strong jawline similar to a lion's, and a bushy tail. Their long fur coat is also an excellent adaptation for harsh winter weather, and their large paws make it easy for them to move through snow. Maine Coons are well-suited to cold climates where they feel most comfortable.
The fur colors of Maine Coons are not limited to any specific breed, as they come in various shades such as black, lavender, tabbies, blotched, or ticked patterns. Basically, you can find a Maine Coon kitten in any color you like!
In terms of size, males weigh between 13 to 18 lb (5.9 to 8.2 kg), while females weigh from 8 to 12 lb (3.6 to 5.4 kg). The height of adults can vary between 10 and 16 in (25 and 41 cm), and they can reach a length of up to 38 in (97 cm), including their tails which can measure up to 14 in (36 cm) long. In fact, a Maine Coon named Stewie held the title of the longest cat in the 2010 Guinness World Records, measuring 48.5 in (123 cm) from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail. That's one massive cat!
Lastly, we should remember that there is a huge Maine Coon at the vet!
